The Stray Dog Society is an social organization that builds support and creates excitement around selected and planned Citadel events, such as the highly successful Annual Homecoming Jamboree, Pre-game Dog Walk, Big Red Flag Raising, and Pregame Tailgate Extravaganzas. As our membership has grown, so has our mission. The Stray Dog Society provides annual support to The Citadel through these social and professional and is proud to establish the Stray Dog Society Athletic Memorial Scholarship Fund for cadets in need of financial assistance.
The Stray Dog Society Mission
By Member and Sponsor involvement, we create excitement around scheduled Citadel activities by connecting non-Citadel membership and support that ultimately provides funds to The Citadel Stray Dog Athletic Memorial Scholarship
How the Stray Dog Society got started
Originally formed in 2003, The Stray Dog Society is a member based organization that builds support for The Citadel by hosting top notch social gatherings centered around fun and community.
Our celebrated annual events include the Homecoming Jamboree, The Big Red Flag Raising Cruise, Thirsty Thursday Happy Hours, Tailgate Extravaganzas, and numerous other gatherings. Proceeds go towards The Citadel through multiple avenues and specifically via The Stray Dog Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support to full-time cadets.
What is a Stray Dog?
The Stray in the Dog allows anyone who realizes they can, through a independent and creative organization, support the unique educational and leadership environment at The Citadel by having a good time attending events and making new connections with folks that have the similar interest in the preservation of our beloved institution.
